Hop is the female flower cluster of hop, Humulus scandens. Hops xanthohumol (XN) is a pentenyl flavonoid that occurs naturally in flowering hop plants and is commonly used to make beer, an alcoholic beverage. Xanthohumol is one of the major components of Humulus scandens. Xanthohumol has been reported to have sedative, anti-invasive, estrogenic, tumor-related biological activities, antioxidant, gastric, antibacterial and antifungal effects in recent years.
